So
disturbing, I will not even mention the name of the TV show or the specific
circumstances (I don't want to give the show more popularity). Truthfully,
I never actually watched the show; I only watched a clip on the news.
Basically, on national television, a woman revealed her infidelity to her
husband for the sake of a buck. Crushing her husband, she pushed on to
reveal more...only to lose all of her money (because she was not truthful about
how she felt about herself – especially in light of her wrongdoing). The
reaction of the commentators was that she should not have revealed her
indiscretion and "ruined her marriage."
There is little doubt that the network was abusing this women and her
self-destructive behavior to bring embarrassment and life-changing harm to her
and her family. ALL FOR THE SAKE OF A BUCK! How completely sad that this is what America
watches for entertainment during prime time. It was truly stomach-turning
to see this. The networks stooping this
low. A man so devastated on TV. A family crushed. A woman wallowing in destruction, harm, sin,
selfishness, so that she might find happiness in money. How devastatingly depressing.
What bothered me the most was the comment that she had “ruined her marriage (by
her actions).” The show’s host, at the
end of the show said, “I truly believe that some secrets should be kept.” The implication from the wisdom of the world
is: lie to protect your marriage. If
marriage is not founded on honesty, what do you have? A marriage that is a lie. God explained that we are no longer two
people, we become one flesh. A strong
marriage consists of love. And love is:
“4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not
envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is
not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices
with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.”
